Join four experienced women sailors for a panel discussion on confidence, competence, communication, and culture. Bottom line... how to be heard on a boat! The program will be held Monday, February 4th at 6 p.m. at the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center (our MWSC home). Cost is only $10! Register now.
We've posted photos from our 2018 Conference on our website. Take a look to remind you of how energizing it was to spend the day with so many fantastic women sailors! If you've got pictures you'd like us to share, send them to Dana Robb and she'll add them to the site. And don't forget to mark your calendar for next year's conference on Saturday, May 18, 2019!
Wayzata Yacht Club in Minnesota is sponsoring the inaugural Midwest Women’s Keelboat Championship, to be held on Sonars, on the beautiful waters of Lake Minnetonka. September 14-16 will feature two exciting days of racing and social events in what will, hopefully, become an annual Midwest tradition! Contact the club at email@example.com with questions or visit www.wyc.org/womenschampionship.
2018 Midwest Women's Sailing Conference logo gear is now available. Check it out here! Orders placed by May 5th will be available for pick up at the Conference, with no shipping charge. Plus, you'll be the envy of everyone who didn't get their order placed in time. Admit it, that's kinda fun...
Cruise with the MWSC women on Sunday, May 20. Our champagne brunch cruise on the M/V Miss Wisconsin is open to all – conference attendees, guests, families, and folks who just want to hang out with us!
Miss Wisconsin is one of the fine vessels of Milwaukee River Cruise Line. Our skipper will be Milwaukee Community Sailing Center Director Capt. Holly Davenport. The vessel offers high-visibility viewing locations from her spacious decks plus comfortable, sheltered interior spaces. That means the cruise will not be cancelled for any stinkin’ bad weather!
Gather at 10 a.m. at the MCSC dock and cast off for approx. three hours of cruising the Milwaukee Bay. Space is limited. Meal, tax, and gratuity are included; a cash bar will be available. Cost is $50 per person. Register now!
It's time to say one of the things that makes us happy and sad at the same time: The 2018 Midwest Women's Sailing Conference is full! We're thrilled to have an eager and enthusiastic group of attendees again; and we also know that there are others who will be disappointed. If you did not get your application in before we hit capacity, please let us know that you'd like to be on the waiting list. That way we can get in touch if a spot opens up, plus we can be sure to give you super-early notice next year!
Meanwhile, be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter so you don't miss a thing!
Registrations continue to arrive daily! Women from six different states are coming to Milwaukee to spend an exciting day learning and networking about sailing. They sail on boats from 15-50 feet and lots in between. They are cruisers and racers, new to the sport and old hands.
You can be one of them. There are still spots open in all 20 workshops, but not for long. Register now to have the best chance of getting your first choices.
Heads up! The conference is already three-quarters filled. If you want to ensure your spot, act now!
Don't be a ground hog, get out to a sailing seminar! There's so much happening off the water while we wait for spring and the MWSC on May 19th. Non-profits like the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center and Sheboygan's SEAS have full schedules of winter classes. Safety organizations including the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and US Sailing Safety at Sea are doing lots of programming. Many of the businesses that help us keep our boats afloat -- Larson Marine, North Sails, Crowley's Yacht Yard, West Systems -- are also offering classes taught by experts in their fields. And don't miss the special 25% discount on USBoat Foundation's specialty workshops from March 18-24!
Check out the calendar page on our website for more information and links to these (and more!) upcoming educational opportunities.
