Move On Board
Judy Cook

Whether you are contemplating an extended cruise or giving up your land-based home to become a full-time live aboard, there are innumerable details to be considered before stepping aboard and casting off. From choosing equipment, provisions, and wardrobe to managing the ongoing details of everyday life – this course will provide a checklist, along with solutions based on actual experiences and suggestions from knowledgeable resources.
In 2013, after spending years on the race courses of Lake Michigan, Judy and her partner Bill embarked on their second visit to the North Channel/Georgian Bay for a 9-week, 1300 mile cruise. Two years later, their annual Canadian voyage became the beginning of a journey through eastern Ontario, the Erie Canal, the Hudson River and the Intercoastal Waterway on the way to the Bahamas, as they became full-time cruisers on their 34’ Tartan sloop. Returning to Milwaukee nine months later, they moved aboard a Carver 36 aft cabin motor yacht for the summer season. They now split their year between cruising south for six months in the sailboat, and living aboard the Carver for six months in the summer.
