North Channel in Three Weeks
Judy Cook

Don’t let the logistics of getting from the southern portion of Lake Michigan to the North Channel deter you from experiencing one of the most remarkable cruising areas in North America. This course will show you why you should go there, what you need to know, and how to prepare your boat and your crew for the voyage.
In 2013, after spending years on the race courses of Lake Michigan, Judy and her partner Bill embarked on their second visit to the North Channel/Georgian Bay for a 9-week, 1300 mile cruise. Two years later, their annual Canadian voyage became the beginning of a journey through eastern Ontario, the Erie Canal, the Hudson River and the Intercoastal Waterway on the way to the Bahamas, as they became full-time cruisers on their 34’ Tartan sloop. Returning to Milwaukee nine months later, they moved aboard a Carver 36 aft cabin motor yacht for the summer season. They now split their year between cruising south for six months in the sailboat, and living aboard the Carver for six months in the summer.
