Night Navigation
Captain Tiffany Krihwan

This workshop will cover basic night-time navigation techniques and suggestions for good practices for safety at sea from dusk to dawn. We will cover lighting options, compass reliability, visual aids, route planning/voyage planning and other techniques to make for a safe night-time passage.
Captain Tiffany Krihwan has been sailing on the Schooner S/V Denis Sullivan for most of the vessel’s existence. She returned to the ship in 2008 as Senior Captain. Having spent more than 35 years on boats, she has been in command of sailing vessels of all sizes from dinghies to chartered yachts to tall ships. Beyond that, she has received the Rod Stephens Trophy for Outstanding Seamanship and the 2001 Governor’s Award for Environmental Education Excellence. As part of a team of three she received the US Sailing Arthur B. Hanson Rescue Medal.
